Advent Challenge Day 7: Öküzgözü Şarapçılık Phokaia
Yesterday’s post wasn’t part of the Advent challenge per say…but since it was a post about wine and I am the adjudicator of the rules of this self-imposed challenge I’m letting it stand!
I have not had Öküzgözü Şarapçılık’s Phokaia Foça Karası in simply ages. A little while back, I bought a bottle from Santé Wine & More for a check in to see how the wine’s going these days.
Advent Day 7
Öküzgözü Şarapçılık Phokaia, 2021
Made with 100% Foça Karası and aged for three months in oak.
Purple-red in the glass with blue-black fruit aromas of boysenberry, black mulberry, damson plum, purple flowers, and hints of oak influence. Initially, the palate presented tart fruit flavors with a bitter, green stick finish. After opening a little more, flavors veered more towards plum, black olive, and violet with a crank of black pepper and a SweeTARTS candy tartness.
