I Wrote a Book & Forbes Wrote an Article About It!
If you’ve never visited my site or seen me on social media, you may not know that I spent four + years writing a book. But I did. And The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine is finally finished, printed, and available for sale!*
But that’s not entirely what this post is about. I recently met Lisa Morrow. If you don’t know who she is but you’re at all intrigued by Turkey, you need to know her. She’s been here for ages now and has written several books about seeing Turkey through an expat’s eyes as well as maintaining her own blog: Inside Out In Istanbul. Meeting her has opened several doors for me including putting me on Abigail Abesamis Demarest’s radar.
Demarest writes about dining at Forbes, which always has my favorite wine articles. I’d kill to write for them but for the time being will be happy (read utterly ecstatic) to be written about!
New Book by Wine Expert Shines Light on Turkish Wine
If you’re looking at a wine menu at a typical restaurant in the United States, chances are you won’t see an option from Turkey. France, Spain or Italy, sure, but Turkey? Do they even make wine there?
It turns out that despite having a long history in winemaking and dozens of native grape varieties, Turkish wine doesn’t get nearly enough of the recognition that it deserves. Andrea Lemieux, a WSET Level 2-certified wine expert and blogger behind The Quirky Cork, is looking to change that. Her book The Essential Guide to Turkish Wine is a comprehensive guide to the history and traditions of Turkish wine, the grapes, the wineries, and where to drink and buy Turkish wine in Istanbul. The book is a culmination of more than four years of work, and it’s packed with information. If you’re planning a trip to Turkey, Lemieux’s book includes overviews, addresses and contact information for wineries throughout the country.
