Vinkara Sauvignon Blanc 2016
I’ve read a few articles recently that suggest Sauvignon Blanc has become rather passé. New Zealand wines apparently have had their heyday. Sancerre no longer seems to garner the respect it once did. Luckily something’s popularity has never been a factor in whether or not I like it. Frankly, if it did, I would not concentrate on Turkish wine. So it bothers me not in the least that some think Sauvignon Blanc is over. More for me!
I unabashedly love this grape. As long as oak stays far far away. Which is generally my preference for any and all white wines. Sauvignon Blanc gives a wide range of flavors here in Turkey. From ripe stone fruit to linear citrus, Turkish Sauvignon Blanc is versatile and offers something for everyone.
Vinkara Sauvignon Blanc 2016 Tasting Notes
This wine is part of Vinkara’s Doruk line. The light straw color hints at what a bright nose the wine has. Tropical fruit aromas of passionfruit and white pineapple mingle with slightly green undertones. The tropical aromas follow through to the palate with tropical fruit flavors, zippy acid, and a medium finish. Medium-bodied with 13% abv, the Vinkara Sauvignon Blanc is a delight on its own but also pairs well with a variety of foods.
Overall, another very nice wine from Vinkara at a very nice price point.
